La Paz

We arrived in La Paz via bus from Cochabamba on a Saturday night. Unfortunately the welcome was anything but warm. Our bus got stuck in serious traffic, we moved about a block and a half in over an hour. Additionally a hailstorm set in. So we decided to hop off the bus before arriving at the terminal and found a cheap place for one night in El Alto, La Paz's twin city. The next morning the world looked alot more friendly fortunately and we descended into La Paz per micro in best weather. La Paz is a buzzing big city with a lot of food options and things to see. At the same time the city manages to remain relaxed and not overwhelm one with it's liveliness. Public transport throughout the city is mostly facilitated by micros and additionally a system of cable cars is under construction with 5 lines running already. Potolo to Sucre - 3 Days of hiking

Sucre - the white city. We really like it here. The city is beautiful and laidback. The markets are rich with fruit and delicious local meals are available throughout the town for 8 - 12 Bolivianos (1 - 1,5 €). Nevertheless we were eager to get into nature once again. Luckily the surroundings of Sucre provide lots of panoramic mountain ranges and more highlights. We left the city at 8:00 am heading towards the village Potolo in a Micro. Micros are the form of transport in Bolivia. They are small buses with about 20 seats and usually leave once they are full of people. Everything is transported in these Micros. People, food, chickens... People hail them along the way and it is common to have more people than  seats on the bus. We stopped ate the outskirts of the city to take more people on board and for the rest of the trip I had a friendly Bolivian gentleman basically sitting on my lap whilst the lady next to Karys was busy changing the diaper of her baby.
